If you have your own sewing machine, which is preferable, I will teach you how to use it correctly. I use Elna sewing machines. If you use one of my machines you will learn how to operate an Elna machine.
How to take care of a sewing machine
I will teach you how to oil and clean your sewing machine.
Textiles
I will take you to the fabric shops and select which fabrics to use for each project. I have completed a textiles course at the Cape Tech, and I would be delighted to share my knowledge with you.
Understanding patterns
I will help you decipher the various brands of patterns, like Vogue, McCalls, Simplicity & Burda. I will assist you in choosing patterns best suited to your skill level.
Fitting patterns
I will teach you how to adjust patterns for your selected size, or to fit your body shape.
Sewing techniques
There are several techniques you can use in sewing, I will teach you the correct technique according to the project.

I am passionate about sewing. I have been sewing for over 40 years. I enjoy imparting my knowledge and passion for sewing with others, which is why I started The Sewing Thread. I have been posting to Instagram on my private account for over 3 years, with sewing projects that I have completed. You can view them on my account @thesewingthread.
